The project involved constructing an addition to the building, taking it from two stories to five stories with four floors of hotel rooms above the ground-level retail. “That's no easy logistical feat given the site constraints, and it's taken a lot of careful planning to get the project off the ground,” said Carlos Hesano, one of the owners and developers of the building. Crews removed the old roof of the building and put in place a temporary roof on the second floor to allow for the Ann Arbor Comedy Club to continue operations while construction was underway.
